interesting high end fashion facts you probably don't know.global rankings:
1) giorgio armani and gucci topped global 'most coveted (desired) fashion brands'.
2) according to businessweek/interbrand, louis vuitton made it to #17, and only one of the two fashion brands that appeared on the top 50 companies. gucci was ranked #46.
3) other high fashion companies on the list are: chanel (#61), hermes (#81), cartier (#86), bulgari (#95), prada (#96), armani (#97) and burberry (#98).
some louis vuitton facts:
1) louis vuitton has no discount sales nor any duty-free stores, probably because their sales are so damn good.
2) its graphic symbols, including quatrefoils and flowers (as well as the LV monogram), were based on the trend of using japanese and oriental designs in the late victorian era. interesting!
3) their products are so heavily conterfeited that only just over 1% of the items bearing the LV monogram are authentic. so the probabilities are, ten people you see using LV products, nine are fake!
some gucci facts:
1) gucci's history wasn't as smooth sailing when compared to louis vuitton, here's why..
"gucci remained one of the premier luxury goods establishments in the world
until the late 1970s, when a series of disastrous business decisions and
family quarrels brought the company to the verge of bankruptcy. in the early 1990s, Gucci underwent what is now recognized as the poorest time in the company's history."
that never happened to louis vuitton...
2) after guccio gucci's (founder of gucci) death in 1953, the company also developed its famous GG logo (guccio gucci's initials) which can also be seen on my wallet. :D

if i am to compare louis vuitton with gucci, it would be like comparing billabong to OP (ocean pacific, well if you still remember this brand, it use to be pretty popular among the poorer students during my secondary school days).
seems like smearing LV & gucci's reputation right? but hey, it's just a comparing ratio. i mean LV & gucci are definitely at least 1000 times better!
i remember that when i was still in my secondary school, i use to like OP a lot (yes i know, quite embarrassing to admit such a thing) because it was much more affordable to me as compared to billabong and it seems pretty similar to billabong.
& not to mention, all the 'rich, cool and preppy' students/classmates would use billabong/roxy/ripcurl and all sorts nonsensical surfer's brand bags and wallets.
which somehow brings me across to converse. it seems that the only 'surviving' brand out of those few hot secondary school favourites is converse. almost everyone still wear converse canvas shoes now. they are a timeless & classic collection for guys although some others would opt for everlast's, fred perry's or some other brands' ones. very old school right? i still have 2 pairs which i'm still wearing.
it's one of those rare type of shoes that the older, dirtier and wearier they get, the nicer looking they are, strangely!
so i don't actually have to worry about dirtying/spoiling them too much, unlike my dress shoes which i have to keep them clean all the time.
